The CUNY Ph.D. Program in Biochemistry has announced the 2014 Horst Schulz Biochemistry Prize. The award recipient is Dr. Cheng Peng, who received her doctoral degree working in the Hunter College Department of Biological Sciences, in the laboratory of Dr. Laurel A. Eckhardt. Dr. Peng will present a talk about her work on Friday, February 21, 2014 in the Elebash Hall of The Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave., New York, NY (by invitation only). The title of her talk is "Role of Igh Intronic Enhancer Emu in Clonal Selection at the pre-B to immature B cell transition." A reception will follow.
The Horst Schulz Biochemistry Prize is given in recognition of an outstanding research paper published in 2013. The competition is open to all current CUNY Biochemistry PhD students and recent graduates of this program who published a first-authored paper in 2013. Dr. Peng is presently a post-doctoral fellow at The Feinstein Institute of Medical Research, Long Island, NY.
